Show us a cityscape. And I'll throw in some row houses, bridges and some fireworks, too.
Yay! An excuse to show you guys Astoria!
My 'hood is right on the East River across from Randall's Island and Harlem. Astoria Park is right on the water and sports magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline, Randall's Island, The Triborough Bridge (which connects Queens to Manhattan and da Bronx) and the Hells Gate Bridge. It's a photographers dream. Visually, there is A LOT going on. I'm always looking for an opportunity to share my friend Joy's photos as well as my Dad's so here goes.
The walk to the park is grand...
We're finally here! Gotta stop and smell the grass, right Charlie? This was Christmas, 2006. We got to dog-sit my nephew and spoil him rotten. He's Joy and Brendan's doggie.
Dad will give us a little tour or the park. To the North, you've got the Hells Gate Bridge planted firmly into Randall's Island. Amtrack uses this bridge.
And to the South you've got the Triborough bridge and the Upper East Side of Manhattan's skyline. The patch of green at the base of the bridge is Randall's island.
This photo is Joy's. The railing here stretches clear up and down the park. I love getting a Mr. Softee ice cream cone and poppin' a squat to take in the view.
