Hey all! I hope you are enjoying your Wednesdays thus far.

I'm writing this post today to get myself stoked for my upcoming trip to Mexico City, exact dates still to be determined but this will likely be happening at the very end of April. This is sort of a birthday gift to myself. Two of my best friends, Joy and Brendan, moved to Mexico City a few months back. They really love it there. Joy's always bragging about the insanely perfect weather, never ending supply of flowers and fresh produce and the wonderful birds and other creatures that abound. I really cannot wait to see it for myself!!!

I'm on a quest to chill with the Xolos!! No...not gangsters...REAL Xolos aka Hairless Doggies. (Pronounced Chollos)

Here are some xolos chillin with a statue of a xolo. Apparently they like to hang out with the fake one which I think is unbelievably funny.

We are also planning on going to a beach for part of the trip so I'm super stoked about that, too. Our friends Anneka and Dan are coming along as well which I'm very excited about!! I always go visit them in KC but this'll be the first time we've taken a trip together.

So yay! I hope you've enjoyed the pics taken by the lovely Joy Victory, author of El Blog De Joy and Squirrels Squirrels Squirrels.

This is a bonus photo, my favorite ever taken by Joy. It hangs in my bedroom. She took it at a market in a border town, not sure which one. She's really good, isn't she??

oh YAY! this looks excellent. Mexico City is becoming popular with artists and expats. That owl stained glass is excellent, just that alone is worth the trip! cool that you have friends there to show you around. I saw something on TV a couple years ago...I think it was people who moved there & opened a restaurant? or maybe it wasn't MC but somewhere else, either way it looked really nice. made me want to move there too....

yeah, the nastiness you hear about drives joy around the bend. she thinks MC's got a bad wrap and she's probably right.

Apparently the restaurants are out of control. The dining experiences they've had sound very interesting! And Joy's gotten back into the pattern of cooking, just shopping for the food is part of the experience now (and soaking every last veggie in anti-bacterial stuff for 20 minutes is now part of the prep).

I love her, too. J and B went to her house while they were visiting once before the move, they couldn't go inside for some reason but they explored the grounds. I think I may have to make it over there. It's clear across town from them but likely worth it.
